I have been using Booster SEO for the past 10 months. I encountered an issue with img file renaming and img alt text populating, unfortunately this did not work on my store. Booster SEO team attempted to fix several times without much luck. I have requested a full refund for the 10 months period, as this gave me doubts if the app is even working on other features and how true is the displayed high SEO score on app dashboard. They accepted my full 10 months refund request and credited it within 48 hours. Speedy support, great company practices, but the app did not give me the confidence i needed on the SEO front. The stars are for developer responsiveness, not so much for the app functionality.

Terrible service. Been paying for this app for 1yr giving them the benefit of doubt while nothing gets done and chat bots seem just to be pretending to look into why it doesn’t work. Complete scam and waste of money

Without confirmation that these requests were accepted, we’re unable to perform a complete review or troubleshoot effectively.

Regarding your SEO concerns, Booster SEO implements on-page improvements immediately, such as meta tags, structured data, and alt text, which help search engines crawl and index your pages. However, measurable results in rankings and visibility, including Google Maps, typically take four to six months because Google evaluates structured data, indexes pages gradually, and considers off-page signals like backlinks, which are outside the app’s control.

That said, we are fully committed to assisting you. I’ve also sent you an email with further guidance on accepting the collaborator request so we can start a detailed review and help ensure your SEO setup is functioning optimally.

EDIT: After talking with support it seems like everything is back working as it should and there was a lot of bulk changes made. I was given a two year free subscription as a remedy which I was happy to take. Customer support was quite prompt once I left the review and fairplay to Lester for making this situation right.

Much like other reviewers, I have been using this app for a long time and letting it run in the background thinking everything was working fine. I then checked the reports to see that features like Image optimiser, Image Alt tags, Image Renames have not logged any changes in over a year. I reached out to support, they told me that the app had not been live on the theme but they updated it. Checked back three days later, still no updates on the features mentioned above. Support assured me it was just the reporting that was broken but I checked image properties like Alt tags and file size and there were no changes made by the app. It looks like they are experiencing issue with their app and customers have been absorbing the cost but not the benefits. Dissappointed and I will be looking on the app store for an alternative.

Been paying the top price for this app for numerous years, upon checking today i can see the app has done nothing at all in over a year; despite my website having a total redesign in this time. I'd like a refund for every month ive paid for this app and the app has done absolutely nothing at all

Only optimizes some images, then they tell you you need to wait a month to get the rest done. But that never happened. I emailed, messaged, used the chat, and never got any further response. They did send a collaboration request, which I accepted immediately, but nothing further. Six weeks of waiting, messaging, being told that it would start later, later, later. Customer service is basically non existent.

Lester here from Booster SEO Tier 2 Support. I’m truly sorry for the frustration you've experienced.

I reviewed your case and can confirm that our team did send a collaborator access request so we could investigate the stalled image optimizations. However, please note that we don’t receive automatic notifications once a request is accepted; and we send out dozens each day. This is the reason why we ask merchants to let us know once access has been granted so we can proceed immediately.

Regarding the monthly optimization limit, our app does indeed have a 5GB processing limit per month, and this is something we’ve always been fully transparent about inside the app and in our documentation. This limit is imposed by our current server provider and is sufficient for over 99% of stores, but we understand that high-volume stores may outgrow it. We are actively working on expanding this capacity for all our valued users, including yourself.

That said, if the next cycle of optimizations doesn’t begin at the start of a new month, we can fix this right away with a manual re-sync; but again, only after collaborator access is confirmed.

I’ve already reached out to you directly via email so we can get this fully resolved for you.

Been waiting over a month for this to work. After installation they tell you it will only be updated once a month due to data limits... A month passed two weeks ago, and no further updates were applied to photos.. and I have been messaging daily with no help at all. I'll uninstall and try something else, just really irksome to spend six weeks waiting, with zero help from support. They don't respond to messages through shopify, or emails. You will get a preliminary response through the chat feature, but it just says "we will escalate this", then they don't ever respond again. If you do it again, you just get the same preliminary response, then nothing else. Might be a bot. Totally embarassing that I spent so much time hoping this would work, but hopefully I can save someone else the trouble.

After reviewing your case though, I can confirm that my colleague reached out a couple of days ago with a collaborator access request so we could investigate the issue directly on your store. This access is required for us to identify why the image updates weren’t processing and to apply the proper fix. Once accepted, we would have been able to move forward with investigating and resolving this as soon as possible.

Even without collaborator access, we had attempted initiating a manual re-sync from our side and saw the optimization process in progress before the app was uninstalled.

That said, I completely understand how this situation could feel disappointing, and I genuinely appreciate you bringing it to our attention. I’ve just sent you an email with more details and the next steps we need so we can assist you properly.

​I'm sorry to hear that you got charged recently.

However, upon checking Shopify's records, this appears to be a valid charge since the billing period for the said charge was for November 18 to December 18, 2025. Like what you mentioned, you canceled on the 17th of December or the day before your plan renews again(18th), which means you won't get charged anymore for future billing periods like the December 18 to January 18, 2026 bill, and so on. Like all subscription plans, it is postpaid, which means you are billed for the service after you use it.

​Please note that these charges are done automatically by Shopify's system as they take care of all billing processes on behalf of third-party apps like ours, and this does not require our intervention at all. We're only able to process appropriate refunds/credits on our end.

That said, we always aim to be considerate of our valued users. As a courtesy, we’ve gone ahead and processed a full refund of this charge for your store. You should see the refunded amount reflected in your payment account within 3–5 business days.

We also sent you emails regarding this concern of yours, but it looks like you haven't read them yet. If you can't find them in your inbox, we suggest checking your spam folder.
