I find Digital Downloads is quite simple to use. At first I was frustrated that there was no "How To" explanation of how to use the app in the app store.
I was putting the cart before the horse. Shopify Help had an easy to understand video on how to use Digital Download. I searched for a How to Use Digital Downloads in shopify help, came accross the "How To Use" video and the rest was a no brainer.
Digital Downloads works perfect for me.

In the past few months, this app has become very bad and untrustable. Always fail to deliver digital products. 10/5 times I received complaints from the customers that they didn't receive their download link. In this way, I have to send them manually the files which takes a lot of time... I contacted Shopify support but they told me that I have a problem with my stripe but it's not true. This app was good in the past years, but in the last few months, it's very poor...
Hi there, thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you've had this issue and that the Digital Downloads app hasn't been performing as you'd hoped in recent months. I'm updating this app review to a 2 stars. I have been using this for over 10 years now. Lately there have been several outages that have cost me business and time.
I never see notification of updates. Everything is happening behind the scenes and downloads that I have had set up for over 10 years just stop working.
C'mon Shopify. It's all I sell. Stop terrible developement practices and test whatever it is you are doing PRIOR to going live. You are affecting live stores!
NO MORE EMAILS! They are delayed or going to junk mail. The download screen needs to appear when the customer purchases the product!
LOVE IT and easy to use (for me &) for my customers for free digital files and paid digital files. DEFINATELY worth having!
I own an art-based (fantasy maps) and this works perfect for what I wanted. Simple upload of my files (including zip) and instant access for my customers. I did add a custom checkout thank you page for files to be accessed easier by my customers.
I only use this app for one product but it works really well and was easy to set up and run. You can see it in use here:

I love it! After reading a few bad reviews I was hesitant to try this, but it is perfect! So simple and basic to use and works really well on my website!
This app is perfect for our store because we deal solely with digital files. It's easy to use too.

This did not work at all. Did not provide the digital download at checkout, nor did it send an email with the link.
