no customization and needlessly needs to "create barcodes" which doesnt work sometimes and cant make labels for hours.

The Retail Barcode Labels app does allow some customisation of the label content, including label attributes such as product title, price, barcode, SKU and custom fields, etc., but more advanced customisation may not be possible. In terms of creating barcodes, you absolutely can use your existing barcodes and just choose to print labels with the app. More information on the different workflows can be found here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/sell-in-person/hardware/barcode-printer/retail-barcode-labels.
