Strongly recommend avoiding this app if you use Shopify Markets or care about your SEO.

The app does not clearly explain that it is not properly designed for a multi-market setup, and the way it modifies theme code can create serious problems. In our case, after uninstalling the app, it left behind code overrides that continued interfering with Shopify’s native SEO.
Worse, the uninstall did not properly restore the original theme code. Our native page titles and meta descriptions had been commented out, which caused major SEO issues across product pages, collection pages, and other parts of the site. Titles were no longer being handled correctly, and in some cases URLs were effectively being used where proper titles should have been.

We had to manually go into the Shopify theme code, disable the leftover Booster SEO include, and remove the comment tags around Shopify’s original title and meta-description code just to get the store functioning normally again.

An app should never leave behind code that continues to override critical SEO settings after it has been uninstalled. At the very least, the developer should clearly warn merchants about this behavior and provide a proper cleanup process.

If you use Shopify Markets, multiple countries, languages, or domains, be extremely careful with this app. Uninstalling it does not necessarily undo the changes it made.

We’re saddened to hear about your experience and to see that it led to this review. We completely understand your frustration regarding missing titles and leftover settings, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

After reviewing your account, we confirmed that the missing page titles were caused by original theme title tags remaining commented out after the app was uninstalled. Due to Shopify API restrictions upon uninstallation, Shopify does not allow apps to automatically restore original theme code. Regarding the booster_apps_seo.config entry in Translate & Adapt, this is a cached database field retained on Shopify's side; once our Liquid files are removed from your theme, it is completely inactive and does not block localized translations.

Furthermore, our dev team recently deployed an update to our integration so Booster defers to Translate & Adapt translations across non-primary markets and 22 languages.

We know this doesn’t change the frustration you experienced while troubleshooting, and we appreciate you bringing these details to our attention.

Our team is actively standing by to perform a full manual theme cleanup across all 7 of your stores and restore your native theme structure as soon as collaborator access is granted.

We've also sent you an email to further discuss the next steps and coordinate the cleanup.

It's not ideal if you have markets in different languages. There needs to be a way to adjust the SEO, for example, the titles, etc., to be adapted to each market in language and not just be based off of the primary language or market.

I just saw your review and wanted to reach out to apologize for the issue you encountered. I understand that the app is unable to translate the meta tags to the selected language of your site.

I reviewed the issue, and I can see that the app is able to adapt or translate the meta tags to whatever language is selected on your site. Just to clarify, the app doesn't have its own translation, but it should follow whatever language is displayed on the site itself. The app works fine and displays the meta tags in whatever language is selected on the home, product, and collection pages of your site, and it looks like it is only not working on your blog pages.

We'd be happy to look further into this and escalate it to our devs if needed. In order to do that, we’ll need collaborator access to your shop, so we’ve sent you a collaborator request to your Shopify admin.

I have not seen the traffic increase I hoped for but the AI tools are really helpful in cleaning up site and the fix for broken links is a big time saver
