Awful app, too busy and confusing, bombarded with ads that appeal to a 5 year old. Always asking you to give product away free to "influencers" and lots of flashy banners offering for you you to put on deals deals deals! Even though I cancelled any marketing and closed my account I still get bombarded with their spammy emails. Horrific experience from start to finish, and beyond!
he business information for your TikTok Shop didn't passed the review. Please update it again and resubmit. - I gave them the exact same details on the other store I used with the SAME credientials. There support who lives literally 1 block away from my business, took MONTHS to just send me automated emails. I stopped bothering with tiktok, abysmal service
As a world renown hair extension consultant, I've been watching TikTok hair sellers closely and honestly I'm ready to jump in and start selling. Being a small business owner this is just the platform I needed to scale my business to the next level.
Set up is not as seamless as I had hoped. Some of the directions are somewhat vague, which caused confusion and uncertainty that I was doing thing correctly. Live help would have been helpful. The one question I posted to the AI assistant never went through.
You are forced to wait multiple days to sync products because the platform puts you into a probation period and only allows up to 100 items to sync. You cannot choose which 100 items are synced. To exit the probation period, you must make multiple sales, but that is nearly impossible when you have no control over what is being sold. If your store offers both digital products and IRL clothing, and the random 100 items are all digital, you are stuck waiting another day for another random sync. This system is neither efficient nor helpful for brands that sell multiple product types. I want to use this app to grow my clothing business, not my digital items, yet there is no way to edit or control this. Customer support provides no solution and simply tells you to try again the next day. There is also no way to bypass probation, even for established stores. I am not sure if this app will be useful for anyone trying to grow their business. It seems quite frustrating and needs a redesign. If you were able to at least choose what gets sync, even if there is a limit to it, that would be more efficient than the randomly choosing. I cannot recommend using this, especially when customer service doesn't care and tells you only "Good Luck." This is extremely bizarre.
Update: They lied. You cannot upload 100 a day, even if you are in the tier. The app is too difficult to navigate and customer service makes you wait a long time, since they have no clue what they are doing. First, I had "Harvie", they told me that you can only upload 100 a day. Then threw me to a bot. Next day, "John" responds, rushes you and closes the chat, even if you provide all the information. Horrible service. If you are looking for a seemless app, this ain't it.
Having worked with interfaces for other shops extensively (and repeatedly), the interface with TikTok is a dream! Make a change and it actually happens. What a delight.
I created an account, then got approved for my business account. Now I can no longer log in. It says account is not found when I try to connect my Shopify store to my Tik Tok account. I am logged in automatically to my phone and on my laptop so how is my account not found. Last, there is no way that you can get in touch with anyone from this place to help you.
The most shocking of all the social media sites. This app will snatch product data from your store, and send it to Tik Tok Seller Centre, when you did not request it to do so. Tik Tok will then prevent you from ever permanently deleting anything, which is a breach of copyright and trademark laws. Most of the things on this app don't work in on the Shopify admin system, so you end up having to log into Tik Tok Seller Centre. Tik Tok Seller Centre is a nightmare to use. It is poorly designed, doesn't sync inventory properly (which causes violations). Our store was then banned, after the stupid app synchronised everything in our store, causing mass violations, so we hit milestones and were banned. Support is pointless, they won't help. Everything is reviewed by AI, which barely works. Of all the social media channels and 'shops' or 'marketplaces', Tik Tik is by far the worst. It is super complicated, operated by AI that simply doesn't work, littered with issues, the appeals process is a joke, things don't synchronise properly, they steal your data and content, they misuse your trademark, their fees to sell in their shop are a joke, they live on a different planet when it comes to writing product descriptions because the template is so poorly designed, you're lucky if you can even sign in sometimes because security of the account also seems to be a joke, they will bloat your 'session' figures on Shopify because those busy AI bots are constantly checking prices, they make stupid suggestions like 'discount this by 30%', they charge fees to use your own shipping service (!), they allow people to sell counterfeits of your own products and do nothing when you complain, instead issuing you with violation tickets. I could go on and on and on. It is a disgraceful platform.
When this stupid app syncs all your products, without permission, causing multiple violations, you then get put into a probation period so you can only sell 100 products. Which is a nightmare to then manage. You only come out of probation when you sell a certain level of products - which is impossible, as others have noted - you can't sell products if you are limited to having 100 available! Which idiot at TikTok made up this policy?
Every policy is idiotic, poorly thought out. You are bombarded with policies. TikTok behaves like it is the only platform in the world you can sell on - unbelievably arrogant, unbelievable fees for every little things. Just remember - it's your business, not TikToks. You don't have to be told how to run your own business by TikTok, nor have TikTok extort silly fees out of you for using your own shipping service rather than their fulfilment.
Take a look behind you and run as fast as you possibly can in that opposite direction, rather than destroying your business and your life with TikTok. Seriously, even Amazon is easier to use.
**This platform has been incredibly frustrating.**
I connected the TikTok app to my Shopify store—which was already performing well—because I wanted to increase product visibility and direct customers to my Shopify store from TikTok (similar to FB&IG). I assumed that orders placed through TikTok would be managed via Shopify, but I was very wrong.
TikTok prioritises customer engagement on its app, which means it applies discounts and free shipping to sellers’ listings without giving sellers the option to opt in or out. After receiving two orders where customers were granted free shipping—despite my shipping profiles being correctly set up—I had no choice but to cancel the orders, as they were placed without any shipping fees being paid. The seller also bears the cost of free shipping, and deductions are made from your payout in 5 BUSINESS DAYS.
I initially thought the shipping setup was incorrect, so I contacted support. Upon further investigation, I discovered that TikTok had automatically listed all my products at 40% off, with free shipping on orders over £22. None of these settings were configured on my end. I strongly believe that sellers should have full control over what discounts and offers are applied to their products/services.
Additionally, having shipping managed through TikTok’s platform added unnecessary steps to my existing Shopify fulfilment process, complicating operations that were already running smoothly.
These are my personal views, but ultimately, I chose to deactivate my TikTok store. Based on this experience, I don’t believe selling on the platform is currently viable or profitable for my business—either now or in the long term.
at the beginning it was hard, but then it was a very steep learning curve, the most important they have very good features for a small business and are doing everything they can to assist and not to just drain money from us. I just started we'll see how it's gonna go in the laundry.
