Rewind Backups

We got this to feel a sense of security in case anything ever happened to our store. However, the one time we need to actually use a backup, we find out that they don't actually backup metafields, despite it being listed on the pricing cards above. Metafields are crucial to our store. After talking with support, I understand that they've said that the Shopify API doesn't allow them to back this up. But then don't list it and have me feeling surprised when the backup isn't there.

A week ago, while connecting Shopify to JTL Wawi using the JTL Connector app, I lost all my product data. I was extremely frustrated. The JTL Connector app overwrote all the product data in Shopify with empty rows. A complete disaster! I honestly don't understand why JTL doesn't have a built-in security mechanism for this. Anyway... Luckily, I had recently activated Rewind Backups. When I used the last backup to restore, I was disappointed to discover that Rewinds doesn't save or restore automated backups of the product meta fields I had spent a long time and painstakingly creating. Oh no! My frustration was even greater. Was all the data really lost? When I contacted Rewinds Support, wondering if there was any way to salvage my many meta fields, I immediately received extremely friendly assistance. A huge THANK YOU to Bianca and Stephan. Within 5 days, all the lost data was restored. Hallelujah! As I subsequently learned, automated restoration of meta fields is currently not possible with Rewind's backup. Rewind requires manual intervention. But they do it brilliantly. So, anyone who loses their data (especially product meta fields) but has a Rewind backup should take a deep breath and contact the support team. Miracles still happen. Initially, we were concerned about unexpected charges, but after reaching out, the team was incredibly transparent and quick to clarify everything. We had a terrible experience with this app. On go-live day, most of our data did not come across from our sandbox to the live store, so the team had to populate it manually.

Bianca with customer support was very helpful and patient and walked us through the entire process. We feel more secure knowing all of our data is backed. We had a malicious freelancer delete everything once, and we never want to be left without an option to back it up ever again. We also customize our code occasionally, and sometimes things go wrong, with Rewind we feel at ease.
