While the concept of this app is noble, lately my shop has been receiving an influx of fraudulent 50 cent transactions using the Planet app item as the sole item purchased. Luckily we delay capture on the charges and are able to cancel these orders using a Flow automation. But it creates a lot of clutter in the order list. I would love to see the developer team restrict this item from being purchased as the sole item in the shopping cart. Ideally it should only be available with other shippable physical items in the cart.

I'm really sorry to hear about the fraudulent transactions. Unfortunately, your suggestion to restrict this item from being purchased isn't something we can do. I'm glad to hear that at least your Flow automation is helping. I'd also recommend reviewing Shopify's built-in fraud filters and bot protection settings, which could help here.

I don't get all the hate this app gets in the comments... It's a great and easy way to support the causes we care about and we're thrilled to be part of this program. The app itself has great features and options for how to display our contributions on our site. My only request would be a more condensed view of the impact data as it takes up too much vertical space, which is the only reason we're not making this visible right now.

1. It charges you for every order--even POS orders which don't require shipping. 58% of my sales are in-store. Insanely unethical to automatically charge *shipping* offsets for *non-shipping* sales.

2. It seriously inflates your numbers. I made 640 sales in the last 30 days, and was charged for 907 orders. (again, about 370 of these orders didn't require shipping).

3. The history graph shows I had nearly 200 sales *in one day* a few weeks ago. I actually had 29...and only 6 of those required shipping...and only 5 of those had shipped at this point. So I paid nearly $0.15*200=$30 in carbon offsets for 5 shipments for that one day.

4. The app ambiguates "orders" and "deliveries". Per my Shopify reports, I only had 288 "deliveries" in the time it claimed I had 907.

Shopify, these infractions erode what little trust people have in environmental practices. I am happy to remove this review if you refund my inflated fees...including Planet fees for all POS orders.

My company has been carbon neutral for years, and will continue to be so for sometime thanks to the overages I've paid using Planet.

Update: Bumping to 5 stars because of all the improvements they have made over the last 2 years. The badge is now highly customizable to closely match your branding and theme, with more placement options.

I also love the transparency they've introduced. You can see the exact projects being funded, the credits delivered, and the timeline for each. You can read about each company and they provide you with assets to use when you share the news with customers. Our customers are scientists so the transparency is important.

They recently introduced an option to allow customers to cover it if they so choose - that can reduce your costs as well.

Love the concept but poor implementation into the storefront. The banner is locked to a specific size and style, sits weirdly close to the above section, and you're unable to add small badges in other places on your store. If you want more than just the store owner to feel good about enrolling, make better display/badge options available.

Implementing Planet has been a meaningful step in making it possible for us to achieve carbon neutrality in our shipping operations. It's part of our broader plan, but every bit helps and given it's ease of use and administration, it's a no-brainer for us.

Awesome app, no no-brainer to use it. Two issues though are the inability to add metric measures on the website (all imperial) vs. the metric on the backend. Yes, the rest of the world minus 3 countries use metric. The other issue is the explainer page is so generic it is useless. Why not incorporate the site stats in it? See how much CO2 we saved type thing.

Point taken on the metric v imperial limitation -- having that be customizable is the end state we're going for and haven't reached yet. We also appreciate the feedback about the Impact Page, particularly with regard to your site-level stats. There are a few different ways to incorporate your site's stats -- you can add them to your badge so they're displayed and updated automatically, or manually add it to the explainer page (sourcing the data from your Planet dashboard). Manual isn't great, we know, and getting your dashboard or something like it on the explainer page would cut out this manual step. Getting your feedback on these things is super valuable for helping us prioritze what should come next. Thanks again!

We also love this app! Super easy way for us to offset our carbon impact through shipping and to provide customers with peace of mind when ordering from all over the country. We've used Planet to send packages over 1,732,585 km, since installation. Very affordable, with a simple setup and flexibility in terms of design and communication. There is no support or a way to download results. Just a dash board with an image. Even when contacting shopify support they had no idea how to get the data to me. I will be moving to a better hosted site like green spark.

But you CAN display your results! In fact, the Planet widget and badge are designed to showcase store-level data. You can, for example, show how many kilos of carbon your brand has removed, alongside relevant equivalencies (e.g., "X number of miles driven in a gas-powered car").

You can also display the specific carbon removal innovations that you fund via Planet, such as reforestation, direct air capture, and the other solutions available to Planet users. Making unapproved charges. We are paying as much as $82 per order which is insane. The monthly spending limit doesn't help much because they will withhold and charge the remaining to next month.

We're sorry you didn't have a good experience with Planet! Planet does not make any charges that aren't approved, so there is some sort of misunderstanding.

Looking at your store, I see some of the items are extremely heavy, e.g., a grill that weighs more than 70 pounds. Because carbon emissions are based in part of the weight of a package, then a 70-pound shipment will simply generate more emissions and therefore carry a larger price tag to offset.

You can always use the "billing cap" to ensure that you're never billed more than you expect.
