Once you subscribe, you'll get charged forever. They don't provide customer service contact number or email. They charge 6 months more after I uninstalled the service. Worst customer service. I had to contact the card company to stop charging it.
First time user of Privy so ran into some issues with trying to upload contacts from Shopify. Started a chat help session and it was amazing. Jose jumped on within a minute and within 30 minutes he had taken care of the issue and importantly provided materials so I can do it myself next time.
This app works perfectly for my needs and integrates seamlessly with Shopify. The customer service is very easy to reach, responsive, and eager to resolve any issues. I highly recommend Privy.

We've been using Privy for almost a decade now and it has quadrupled in usability and usefulness. They are always adding new features and it works seamlessly with Shopify.
What really impresses me is their customer success staff. Especially Henry. What a beast! We redid our old popups and got a 5x better signup rate. Great company and will continue using for years.
It will charge you for "usage fees" and it won't be very easy to figure out what they are. We used a very basic setup and forgot about it only to realize we were being charged $45+ USD a month for literally an email signup. If you're just getting started, use the free shopify email app and save yourself the headaches.
Henry is our rep and he is awesome! We have had trouble with our website having a bot invasion which interfered with our email campaigns. Henry spent many hours helping us to fix our website to minimize unwanted visitors and subscribers. After months of working with our site I think we finally have it under control. The video chat support was really crucial to making Privy work for us.
We were long-time users of Privy, but our experience has been deeply disappointing and financially damaging. In 2019, Privy's own support team confirmed in writing that a duplicate account tied to our Shopify store had been identified and closed. We were assured that no further charges would be incurred.
Despite this, Privy continued charging us for nearly six years on a second account that was inaccessible and had no associated email address. Unfortunately we only discovered this in 2025. After presenting full documentation, including screenshots of their original cancelled confirmation, Privy refunded just six months' worth of charges out of a total of 70+ months—refusing to refund the rest and claiming they could no longer locate the original correspondence due to “internal system changes.”
This is unacceptable from a company that provides email and CRM services. Failing to honour a written cancellation, charging for a service that could not be accessed, and then denying responsibility years later reflects a troubling disregard for transparency, accountability, and customer trust.
Merchants should be extremely cautious. If something goes wrong, you may find yourself with little recourse, even if you have clear evidence and written promises from their own team.
We were looking to build up our business on Shopify. They gave the assignment to build to me, and I am a complete novice. I turned to Privy. Throughout our journey, I have always noticed and been intrigued by the tips Privy would send to us on how to build business. So, when I was given the task, I turned to Privy. I attended a webinar and made a call to renew our plan.
I was assigned a success manager named Henry. He has proven to be a breath of fresh air. He is informative, knowledgeable, patient, clever, and takes action and makes you take action. I love the support and will always stay with Privy.
update: a year or two back i switched away from privy because i was looking for a couple other things at the time, but now am probably going to switch back over and Jose has been nothing but great in helping me figure out some back end things before i make the jump back and to make sure everything is running smoothly on the back end without being an actual customer yet - so that is very much appreciated, sometimes you can't find people that will help like he has!
Privy is a great way to capture emails. Totally customizable and easy to gives just what I need for growing my new business. I used Privy for another store I had and it always gave great results even for the free version! Customer service is awesome too, pretty quick to answer and fix any problems!
