One star — more than 7 years of use, and it has been effectively useless
The channel does not reliably read product truth from Shopify. It flags missing size, gender, age group, and color even when those are present in product data, variants, and descriptions. Editing controls are too weak to justify keeping it installed.
I have used this app for more than 7 years, and my experience has been overwhelmingly negative. It has never produced meaningful business value for my store, and the amount of time spent trying to satisfy its shifting requirements has far outweighed any benefit. The app repeatedly claims that important product information is missing even when that information is clearly present in Shopify, in my variant structure, in my size information, in my product categories, and in my descriptions. It creates the feeling that the store is failing when, in reality, the app is failing to read or honor the data that already exists.
The editing experience is also extremely weak. The Google & YouTube sales channel exposes very little useful control, gives poor visibility into what is actually wrong, and does not provide a serious workflow for correcting issues at scale. It points merchants toward missing fields, but the actual tools for resolving those issues are shallow, confusing, and disconnected from normal Shopify product management. In practice, it feels like a thin and unreliable layer sitting on top of the store rather than a trustworthy integration.
What makes this worse is that the app encourages constant labor without clear reward. After years of use, I have not seen it function as a meaningful source of sales growth. Instead, it has mostly acted as a complaint surface: more warnings, more supposed deficiencies, more friction, and very little evidence that the work demanded by the app is actually rewarded.
For merchants with large catalogs or carefully built product data, this app can be deeply frustrating because it does not reliably reflect the truth already present in the store. After more than 7 years, I cannot recommend it.
We sell a mix of digital and physical products and this app is just a disaster. Leaves behind a merchant center with tons of wrong configured products and as you have absolutely no control of whats going on, there is not much you can do about it. Stay away if you want to have any sort of control, of whats actually going on in your shop.
Really easy to set up and works as expected. Products synced to Google pretty quickly and I started seeing more traffic soon after. It’s simple to use and saves a lot of manual work. Could use a bit more customization, but overall a great app.
As the Founder of Supreme Surface®, I used this brand-new setup as the opportunity to perfectly align our specialty stone care technology with Google’s latest requirements. By leveraging a "team" approach between this app, Shopify Sidekick, and Google’s AI assistant, we accomplished in less than 24 hours what would have been impossible on my own.
We successfully resolved a 1,900+ item feed discrepancy (correcting it to our 29 core variants), standardized our GTINs/MPNs, and locked in same-day (0-day) handling for nationwide shipping. Since finalizing the sync, we have already seen a measurable lift in organic (free) traffic to our store. If you are a founder looking to build a compliant, high-visibility organic engine from the ground up, this is the integration you need.
Now that Shopify insanely got rid of being able to click on the Google shopping app within a product page to edit Google info, they're instructing people to do it from the Google app. Oh, but you can *only* do a bulk edit. So, if you have 10,000 variants, good luck on getting that to work. Taking away the ability to click and edit Google shopping channel info within a product page has to be one of the most ridiculous decisions Shopify has made in a while. If you want to edit all of the Google shopping information and can't use bulk edit there, now it's like 10 steps to do the same thing. Absolute travesty that nobody seems to care about because apparently, AI is the most important thing ever now. Be better, you completely destroyed my workflow. Good job.
Absolutely horrendous, AI-slop, Blackbox software. This is absolutely riddled with false-positive issues, inconsistent data, incomplete data being pushed to GMC and really provides no useful functionality from the app side.
Your data will be corrupt when it's pushed to GMC and end up with "missing images" or "missing descriptions" or unuseable products. Avoid at all costs.
DO NOT USE THIS APP.
This app is incomplete and has major uncorrected defects. The support team google has put on this app doesn't support it and creates additional issues. Further, with its limited functions, it will lead you into a dead-end.
Based on our experience using Google Merchant for a decade, do not use this app.
The app is very convenient and user-friendly. It clearly displays all the important data needed to track performance and manage campaigns effectively. The analytical data and insights are presented in an organized way through data cards, making it easy to review performance and implement any necessary changes quickly. Overall, it’s a very helpful tool for monitoring and optimizing results.
Data synchronization delays and errors were so severe that proper and timely feedback could not be obtained, and the feedback was also vague, forcing us to abandon the project.
We’re using this plugin to track Google Ads conversions, but we’re experiencing an issue with incorrect conversion values. For example, the actual order value is $160, yet the conversion value shown in Google Ads is consistently recorded as $1.
We’ve reached out to both the plugin’s support team and Google Ads support. However, both sides have responded that the issue falls outside their scope of support, meaning they’re unable to help us resolve it. So far, we haven’t been able to find anyone who can provide meaningful technical assistance. The responses we’ve received have been rather dismissive, simply stating that they cannot address the problem.
