Stay away from this app. Syncing product changes, prices, inventory, and availability is a joke. In our case, these simple updates have remained stalled for WEEKS, affecting product visibility, advertising performance, and revenue. This app wastes merchants’ time and money instead of helping them.
The worst part is the complete lack of accountability shown by both Google and Shopify. Support hides behind useless template replies, keeps asking for the same screenshots, and shifts the focus back to the merchant even when the issue clearly sits within their own app connection. This is unacceptable for an app backed by Google and offered through the Shopify marketplace. Google and Shopify need to fix the app properly and offer something that honours what merchants should be able to expect from reputable names, not the low level of development and customer service they are showing with this app.
We installed this app, and then a few days later, we found a campaign set up in Google Ads for a $13,000 a day spend.
I have two-factor authentication on my email/login, so this is the ONLY thing connected to my Google Ads. It said that I was the one who created the campaigns...But I have not even logged into Google Ads in weeks.
Also, when we installed this app the first time, I immediately uninstalled it as it did not work for what I needed. It wiped out our Google Analytics tag, and we were down for days.
My developers and marketing people convinced me to reinstall it and just use it for analytics, Merchant Center, etc.
So far I am NOT happy!!!!!
The automated processes don't work. Hence you have to read useless pages of support to discover what went wrong. No resolution at all and seems that getting to support is also wishful option for many.
The Google & YouTube Shopify app has been a great addition to our store. It makes it incredibly easy to sync products with Google Merchant Center and promote them across Google and YouTube. The integration is smooth, and setting up product listings, ads, and tracking feels very streamlined.
Really easy to set up and works as expected. Products synced to Google pretty quickly and I started seeing more traffic soon after. It’s simple to use and saves a lot of manual work. Could use a bit more customization, but overall a great app.
The app is fine if you only run an online store. But the moment you try using Local Inventory Listings, it becomes a complete rabbit hole.
On the Shopify side everything appears fine, mostly because there is barely any control or visibility into what is actually happening behind the scenes.
Meanwhile Google Merchant Center keeps complaining that there is no local inventory feed configured, even though the Google & YouTube app gives the impression that local inventory is supported. Eventually Merchant Center starts threatening suspension warnings.
Then starts the endless cycle with Google support. Most support agents do not seem to understand how the Shopify Google & YouTube app actually works with Merchant Center. Replies are mostly copied templates, and every response takes days. After 2 weeks you usually get an answer that does not solve anything, and then you start the whole process again from scratch.
What makes it worse is that almost every app that actually handles local inventory feeds properly is paid.
It is honestly disappointing that Google created an official Shopify app for navigating their already confusing Merchant Center ecosystem, but only implemented half the functionality needed for physical retail stores.
We sell a mix of digital and physical products and this app is just a disaster. Leaves behind a merchant center with tons of wrong configured products and as you have absolutely no control of whats going on, there is not much you can do about it. Stay away if you want to have any sort of control, of whats actually going on in your shop.
Absolutely horrendous, AI-slop, Blackbox software. This is absolutely riddled with false-positive issues, inconsistent data, incomplete data being pushed to GMC and really provides no useful functionality from the app side.
Your data will be corrupt when it's pushed to GMC and end up with "missing images" or "missing descriptions" or unuseable products. Avoid at all costs.
Change is always hard, especially when you are doing something that challenges you and doing it for the first time. I migrated Let Love Clothing from Ecwid to Shopify with zero experience, and Google Merchant Center is coaching me on where I can improve. Sometimes I don't even know where to look and make the required changes. Still, I persevere, and the reward will be great, that I know. Thank you for the push for excellence.
Absolutely Terrible!
I have been creating Shopify stores for over 15 years now.
This app automatically syncs your products and SEO data, which sounds great. But WATCH OUT! If your Shopify created products do not meet Google's misrepresentation policies your Merchant account will get done for misrepresentation. Not only will Google not tell you why, their help is non existent. You are left pulling your hair out trying to work out where your products are not meeting their standard. You only get 3 strikes, and no feedback! Here is the real hit though, while your account is paused the sync does not work. Absolutely terrible! I resorted to deleting my merchant account, and placing a pixel the old fashioned way.
