This app recently deleted multiple collections in our online store, damaging our online sales. We didn't even know that they had access to do this, which tbh looking at the permissions they did not. Its like they hacked our store in some way and then started deleting our collections which were actually product pages. Had Shopify not contacted us to tell us there had been an issue with this app we may not have noticed. Shopify said in their comms that Orderly would be in touch, they haven't. DO NOT install this app, if we didn't have a savvy Ops Mgr on board we may have taken longer to notice this issue and suffered further losses. Many businesses have been impacted.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This app which we weren't even using anymore has wiped out every single one of our smart collections, the SEO damage from this could be shocking, they should be removed from the app store for such a breach
These reckless developers obliterated years of work, deleted massive amounts of our data and were like "Welp! Good luck! Maybe you can use the wayback machine!"
Shopify needs to hold them accountable, blacklist them from the platform, and insist on financial compensation for all of the users that they victimized.
This app DELETED MOST OF MY PRODUCTS AND COLLECTIONS on my website. I'm missing out on thousands of dollars in orders. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
Absolute Disaster - They Deleted Our Store Data and Can't Fix It. I cannot recommend this app with even a single star. We are currently in the middle of a catastrophic incident caused by Orderly Emails, and their response has been nothing short of negligent.
Their latest update admitted that a "bug" in their app blindly deleted active Collections from our Shopify store. Even worse, they explicitly stated: "we unfortunately have no way of recreating them ourselves."
Think about what this means:
Data Loss: They deleted live business assets (collections) without any confirmation step or safety net.
No Recovery: They admit the data is gone forever because it wasn't "stored in their systems," despite the fact that their app triggered the deletion. This is a massive liability issue.
Terrible Safety Standards: How does an update intended to "cleanup duplicates" result in mass deletion? There were clearly zero safeguards in place.
Telling us to "check the Activity Log" is insulting when the log only confirms that they wiped our data and left us with nothing. This isn't just a bug; it's a fundamental failure of engineering and trust. We have lost weeks of work organizing products, and the vendor has no plan to make us whole.
Do not install this app unless you want to risk losing your store's structure with zero chance of recovery. Save yourself the headache and find a competitor who actually cares about data integrity.
This app caused widespread and significant damage to many Shopify stores by deleting collections without warning. For those affected, this is not a minor inconvenience - it has fundamentally disrupted site structure, navigation, and product visibility.
In our case, the impact has been severe enough that the website now requires taking offline while we rebuild collections, reconfigure navigation, and restore the overall layout. This is both time-consuming, and costly.
The issue has been described as a “bug,” but the scale of the damage goes far beyond what most store owners would consider an acceptable technical fault. Collections are a core part of any Shopify store, and their removal has knock-on effects across the entire customer experience - including visibility on search engines like Google.
An apology email is not sufficient in situations like this. The response does not reflect the seriousness of the disruption caused, nor the level of responsibility owed to businesses relying on this app.
Store owners place trust in apps to support their operations - not to compromise them. Unfortunately, this experience has significantly undermined that trust.
It's quite unbelievable that Shopify hasn't yet severed their partnership with the developer - both their apps are still available in the app store. Where is the accountability? Shopify are still billing as usual and ignoring store owners. If people needed yet another excuse to find an alternative to Shopify, then this is the very thing!!!
Yep, deleted a bunch of collections AND menus from our store. Massive disaster!!! Avoid this one like the plague....
Thanks for deleting EVERY SINGLE COLLECTION on my site yesterday then not bothering to let anyone know that you did it. You tanked 15 years of solid google ranking, search history and backlinks. You allowed this problem to go on for more than 24 hours before you had the decency to put an update in the notifications within the App on Shopify and post a note on your website, meanwhile you never actually reached out to any of the impacted sites. I found out only because Google Merchant Center and Simprosys Feed App sent me messages yesterday at the 12 hour mark warning of missing collections and 404 errors.
30th March DISASTER!
The handling of this issue 29-30TH MARCH DISASTER) has been extremely poor, especially given its scale and impact. There are already more than 85 negative reviews on the Orderly Emails App dashboard, and I’m confident many more users have been affected but haven’t had the time or means to leave feedback—particularly now that there appears to be no clear way to contact the developers.
What’s most concerning is the complete lack of guidance from the app developers and Shopify during the incident. Many of us watched, in real time, as collections were hidden or deleted within minutes—collections that took years to build and significant financial investment in contractors and web specialists. The damage has been substantial.
Could you please advise how we can get in direct contact with Orderly Emails?
Additionally, we request Shopify’s assistance in verifying that there are no remaining traces of the Orderly Emails App code in our store backend. We are particularly concerned as we received an email from Orderly Emails after uninstalling the app, which included a link that redirected directly to our Shopify admin. This raises serious questions about whether the app still has any level of access, which is also absurd that they had the capability to access all our data.
We would appreciate your urgent assistance in:
- Confirming that Orderly Emails no longer has access to our store;
- Ensuring all related code or integrations have been fully removed;
- Advising on any further steps we should take to secure our store apart of 'making a copy' now that the damage has been done already.
Please respond as soon as possible.
Thank you.
App accessed our products and collections. I woke up to find my website in disarray as this app wiped out all our collections. No email notification, nothing. I had to email and ask and get this standard response. This is a huge breach of trust and security. I will be deleting this app and do not recommend.
